The main goal of the Danube Wine Challenge is to focus attention primarily on wines from the countries through which the Danube River and its tributaries flow and which share common historical, cultural, winemaking and gastronomic traditions.

The competition is open to wines from all over the world, with the aim of pointing out the quality of Slovak wine, which is firmly anchored in the Central European area, but mainly to highlight its importance in the international context of wines. The competition will thus provide an extraordinary and unique opportunity to compare wines from different regions of the world, which differ from each other due to different soil and climatic conditions, as well as the diversity of the style of growing vines and making wine.

The competition is a member of VINOFED - the World Federation of Major International Wine and Spirits Competitions.
